At times, life can be a whirlwind.  Your plate is piled high, and your to-do list seems endless.  With so much going on, when was the last time you took a step back and focused on your needs?  It’s okay if it’s been a while.  Recognizing the need and making an effort is what matters most.

Meditation is an excellent method for gathering your thoughts and slowing down your mind amidst the demands of life.  Don’t know where to start?  Here’s a list of some of our favourite ways to slow down and practice centred mindfulness.  We’ve also included tips for using two of the  most meditative essential oil aromas — doTERRA Peace essential oil blend and Balance essential oil blend — to create

time.

DAILY AFFIRMATIONS

Positive self-talk may seem simple but adds value to your life.  You can begin by practicing daily affirmations.  Use constructive statements to help validate your sense of self-esteem and quiet negative thoughts.  ie. “I am enough”.

Tip: For an aromatic boost, apply a few drops of Balance essential oil to your neck, wrists, or the bottoms of your feet for a peaceful and grounding aroma while you build yourself up at the start of each day.

MINDFUL JOURNALING

Mindful journaling is another method for ruminating on your thoughts.  Journaling is a meditative process that provides a vehicle to examine what’s going on inside your head and heart.  Applying this exercise daily allows you to better understand yourself while letting go of negative

thinking and energy.

Tip:  Try diffusing doTERRA Peace essential oil to create a calming and relaxing environment as you journal.

YOGA

Yoga is an excellent meditative activity for connecting your mind and body though mindful movement.  Even practicing the simplest poses and stretches on a daily basis can be beneficial.  For yogis and beginners alike, having a pleasant scent in the air can elevate your practice.  This yoga mat spray is great for that.

Yoga Mat Spray

¾ Cup of Spring Water

¼ Cup of White Vinegar

4 drops of doTERRA Peace Essential Oil

4 drops of doTERRA Balance Essential Oil

Combine in a spray bottle and shake until combined before spraying it on your mat, and wipe dry with a towel.  Test it on a patch of your mat first to make sure that it doesn’t damage your mat.

Apps to help you learn to Meditate

Most apps have free trials that allow you to explore the service, and most of them have teaching features to help you learn how to calm your mind.  Go into meditation without self-judging.

Even the most experienced person has days where they can’t shut off the mind — Yogis call this the “monkey mind”.  Just keep trying, and when you catch your mind wandering, gently pull it back to the present moment.

Whether you deal with anxiety, depression, insomnia, or racing thoughts, there is a meditation for you!
